She was predeceased by: her parents, Garnet Straight and Darlene Nance Straight; her husband Basil Whitt; and her siblings, Eugene Straight, Garnet Straight Jr. and Lawana Hammond.
She is survived by: her son Dale Whitt (Paula) of Bidwell; her grandson Eric Whitt (Abby) of Gallipolis; her great grandchild Hayden Whitt of Gallipolis; and her sisters, Eugenia White of Pataskala, Patricia Hale of Galloway, Brenda Burnette of Gallipolis and Juanita Roach of Waterloo. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 13th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home (810 2nd Ave, Gallipolis, OH 45631). A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 13th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to either Holzer Senior Care Center or the Rio Grande Women's Basketball program in Ruth's memory.
