He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald Garn and Louise Garn (Mowery); his wife Mary "Sue" (Jeanette); and his siblings, Roger Garn, Pat Fausey (Frank), Audrey Fedeles (Andy) and Nancy Garn.

He is survived by: his children, Vicki Schade (David) of Bettsville, Diane Fruchey (Jim) of Kansas, Paul Garn (Angie) of Bettsville and Lisa Lippert (Randy) of Green Springs; his siblings, Ned Garn (Judy), J. David Garn (Phyllis) and Carol Jean Robinett (Larry); and his sisters-in-law, Lorna Garn and Alice Jeanette. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren.
