He was predeceased by: his parents, Maywood Shrieve and Irene Shrieve (Gault); and his siblings, Emerson "Sandy" Shrieve, Deloris Shrieve and Carolyn Loper.
He is survived by: his wife Kathy Shrieve; his children, Joe Thornton (Jenny), Stacey Hollida (Matt), D. J. Shrieve and Christina Cook; his grandchildren, Lexie, Skylar, Joey, Madison, Morgan, Macy and Rayland; and his brother Richard "Dick" Shrieve. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
