He was predeceased by: his parents, Rolla Patterson and Mabel E. Patterson; and his siblings, James, Rolla Jr., Richard Patterson and Betty.

He is survived by: his wife Mary A. Patterson; his daughters, Karen Powell (Amanda Henning), Cathy True (Mark) and Melinda Baker (Joel); and his sister Linda Moyer.
