He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Ploenes and Myra Ploenes; his siblings, Elizabeth "Lib" Daugherty and Albert "Patch" Ploenes; and his significant other Darleen "Dee" Ploenes.
He is survived by: his wife Darleen R Kosco; his children, Paula Coon (John), John Ploenes (Barb), Tracey Bognar (Jeff) and Lea Burns; his caregiver Melissa Williams; and his nephew David. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
