She was predeceased by: her parents, William A. Kirkland and Virginia L. Boyd Kirkland Bell; and her brother William "Bill" Kirkland. She is survived by: her husband Richard "Rick" Schmitt; her sons, Richard "Ricky" Schmitt and Ronald "Ronnie" Schmitt; her grandchildren, Johnathan and Alyssa Schmitt; her siblings, George (Cathy), Charles Kirkland (Dayna), Virginia Sue Kovaly (Tom) and Vicky Lynn Lent; her sister-in-law Brenda Kirkland; and her stepsisters, Kimberly Sexton and Audrey Sabo. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
