It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marlene Ruth Johnston of Belmont, Ohio, born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, who passed away on August 17, 2023, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ellen Masters West and Carl West; her husband Dick; her son Richard Jr.; her brothers, Carl West Jr. and Charles West; and her great grandchild Kit Madison Schafer.
She is survived by: her children, Jay Van Johnston Sr. (Marcie) of Batavia, Elaine Van Schafer (Doug) of Belmont and Tammy Duill (Andy) of Delaware, Ohio.; her grandchildren, Richard V. Johnston III (Christine), Stacy Johnston, Jessica Lawless (James), Jay V. Johnston Jr., Melissa Johnston, Lacy Gallagher (Derek), Alex Schafer (Jessica), Lindsay Schafer, Carly Stephen (Joe) and Madison Schafer; her sister Darlene Craver (Kent) of Sidney; her sister-in-law LaJ Bonstead of Dublin; and her niece Alyson Morris.
