He is survived by: his wife Florence (Briehl); his children, Walter Sanders III (Terri) of Bellevue, Timothy Sanders (Jennifer) of Bellevue, Kathleen Staley (Steve) of Bellevue and Patricia Steinmetz (Scott) of Bellevue; and his siblings, Richard Sanders (Candy) of Vermilion, Mary Lou Sams of Bellevue and Barbara Reilly (Danny) of Bellevue. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the United States Marine Corps League.
