He was predeceased by: his mother Virginia M. Thurman (Clark); and his brother-in-law Michael Potter. He is survived by: his wife Karen L. Thurman; his father Charles Wesley Thurman; his sons, Charles and Darrell; his stepchildren, Darren and Liza-Jean; his grandchildren, Joshua, Rachel and Julia; his sister Sherrie Aubrey (Rob); and his nieces, Natalie Blythe (Jim) and Alise Diaz Mendoza (Christian).
