He was predeceased by: his wife Inell B. Sanford; his daughter Jeanette L. Sanford-Hamlin (Brian); his siblings, Nelly Mae (Dexter), Shirley (Albert), Charles (Brenda), Carl (Anita) and Robert (Doris); and his parents, Joe Sanford Sr. and Susie Hudson.
He is survived by: his son George J. (Suzan); his siblings, John (Frances), Otis (Geraldine) and Carolyn; his brother-in-law Napolean Blutcher; and his grandchildren, Janee Sanford, Samuel Sanford and Marquise Cox. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
