He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Barnes Sr. and Mary Barnes (McCray); and his son Charles Vonell Barnes. He is survived by: his close friend Joyce Scales; his children, Marlon Devon Barnes, Kendrick Mitchell and Sandra McClure; and his siblings, Robert Lee Barnes, Essie Hawes and Barbara Jean Tate. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 5 great- grandchildren.
