He was predeceased by: his wife Ella Mitchell; and his son James Mitchell Jr.. He is survived by: his children, Kathleen Lewis and Charmayne Blake; and his grandchildren, Chuck Blake, James Mitchell II, Chanel Elam, Duane Mitchell and Brandon Mitchell. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and numerous great, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
