He was predeceased by: his son-in-law Daniel Smosney. He is survived by: his wife Cecelia M.; his children, Robert Getz (Penny), Richard Getz (Jodi), Jody Smith and Brenda Smosney; and his siblings-in-law, Harry Smith and Carol Humphrey. He is also survived by four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers; three sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Summit County Humane Society.
