He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Vaughn and Lillian Vaughn; his wife Janie Ruth; his siblings, James, Cloyd, Herbert, Herman Vaughn, Jesse Lee Cheatham, Marjorie Butler, Nannie Bell Ingol and Zular Mae Burton; and his grandchildren, Amaya James and Dennis Alexander.

He is survived by: his children, Raymond Vaughn, Jr. (Autumn), Michael Vaughn (Susanne), Mark Vaughn (Shirley), Eric Vaughn (Terrie), Donte Thompson, Rachelle Vaughn (Henry), Julie Woolridge (Jeff), Jennifer McNair (John L.) and Ashley Thompson; his niece Traci Vaughn-Person; his nephew Tracey Jackson; and his close friends, Walter Reed and Sylvester Johnson. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
