He was predeceased by: his parents, Bertha Genet (Dickerhoff) and Fred Genet; his grandparents, Emersen Rupprecht, Avery, Adelaide Kaiser, Renin Goe and Crew Cunningham; his wife Margaret Pasternak Genet (Pestie); his great grandchild Nicholas Kaiser; and his siblings, Richard Genet (Bonnie), Norm Genet (Esther), Joann Tonovitz (Nick), Felicia Turner (Jack), John Genet (Jean), Don Genet (Wanda) and Margaret Genet Ligas.
He is survived by: his children, Fred Genet (Kit), Peggy Goe (Rich), Joani Hedderick (Scott), Bob Genet (Irene) and Jeanie Cunningham (Ken); his grandchildren, Lauren Rupprecht (Ray), Angela Kaiser (Nick), Charlie Goe (Cassidy), Carson Cunningham, Elliot Goe (Nisha Orren), Kenny Cunningham, Morgan Genet, Conner Hedderick (Sarah Shaheen), Bryan Hedderick, Grant Cunningham (Kelly), Hanna Torda (Casey) and Carly Cunningham; his godchildren, Carol Macko (Bob), Patrick Boyle (Edna), Maryann Struckel (Steve), Ryan (Annkelly) and Jeremy Struckel; his son-in-law Ken; his cousins, Norm Genet and Rosann Walter; and also, Ensley and Sue Jorde.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home (1199 Wooster Rd W, Barberton, OH 44203). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church (1263 Shannon Ave, Barberton, OH 44203). A burial was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 12:15 PM at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the "Genet Family Scholarship Fund" in care of the Barberton Community Foundation.
