He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Gerald Nauer and Marilyn Fox Kelly; his wife Debra Koprek-Nauer; his daughters, Corrinne Lochtefeld (Eric) and Jennifer Nauer (Nick Wells); his granddaughter Abigail Lochtefeld; his pet Maddie; and his siblings, David, Deborah Currier (Doug), Diane Conrad (Dick), Patricia Conant (Doug), Jean Brown (Phil) and Paul. He was also cherished by his wife, daughters, family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the charity of one's choice.
