He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Phyllis Ruther Sr. and Donald Ruther Sr.; his sister Connie Lozier; his grandparents, Denver Sinnett, Adolph and Mary Alice Ruther; his father-in-law George T. Suppan; his wife Jody Ruther (Suppan); his children, Alec Ruther (Alison), Carrie Karr (Dave) and Karli Cartmel (Shawn); his granddaughter Rachel Backus; his grandmother Aribell Sinnett; his siblings, Carolyn Lozier and John Ruther (Kim); his mother-in-law Anne Suppan; and his siblings-in-law, Annie Duca (Larry) and Tommy (Sandy). He was also cherished by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
