He was predeceased by: his parents, L. G. McCandlish and Ida Fisher McCandlish; his son Terry McCandlish; and his brothers, Neal and Paul Edward McCandlish.

He is survived by: his daughters, Brenda Metzger (Jeffrey) and Charla Hilbert (Edward); his grandchildren, David Abbott, Craig Morningstar, Chuck McCandlish, Emily Fout (Charles), Chris Gaskill, Michael Metzger and Sarah Metzger; and his pet Chloe. He is also survived by 9 Great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Donations can be made in Charles' name to FairHope Hospice, 282 Sells Rd. Lancaster, OH 43105.
