With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Gerda Vanthoor of Avon, Ohio, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Gerda left this world on December 14, 2024 at the age of 95, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her husband Mathieu VanThoor; her children, Anne and Bill; her parents, Theodorus Beekhuijsen and Johanna Beekhuijsen; and her siblings, Theo, Nico Beekhuijsen, Hennie Riemer, Riet Machielse and Annie Schoenmaker.
She is survived by: her children, Frank VanThoor (Michelle), Hennie Haney (Guy) and Caroline Wilson (Steve); her son-in-law Thom Palmer; her grandchildren, Todd VanThoor (Sarah), Mandy VanThoor, Bonnie Oswalt (Mark), Adam Haney, Mathieu Haney, Michael Palmer (Heather), Elliott Palmer (Nicole), Matt Wilson (Kiki), Dan Wilson (Jenn), McKenzie Gillard and Michael Sandi Lesko (Alvaro); her great grandchildren, Zachary Palmer, Justin, Mason, Logan, Jackson Haney, Serena VanThoor, Autumn VanThoor, Kami Knoll, Austin, Carson Oswalt, Skylar, Connor Wilson, Kylie, Gwenn, Bray Wilson, Brandon, Tyler, Devin Derico and Aiden McGuire; her siblings, Corry Schoenmaker (Josef) and Martien Beekhuijsen; and her sisters-in-law, Joke VanThoor and Ria Beekhuijsen. She is also survived by "Oma" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Misencik Funeral Home (36363 Detroit Rd, Avon, OH 44011). A Mass was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 9:30 AM at the St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish (2640 Stoney Ridge Rd, Avon, OH 44011). A burial was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 10:45 AM at the St. Mary's Cemetery (2640 Stoney Ridge Rd, Avon, OH 44011).
