He was predeceased by: his parents, Angelo Portale and Alice Portale; and his sister Laurel Portale. He is survived by: his wife Connie; his children, Diane Prainito (John) and Michael Portale (Colleen); his grandchildren, Dana Prainito, Lauren Hofmann (Joshua), Allison Prainito, Andrew Portale (Chelsea) and Ashley Portale; and his brothers, David Portale (Irene) and Keith Portale (Clare).
He remained very active in his retirement even after being stricken with Alzheimer's.
