He was predeceased by: his parents, Irving Sherman and Rebecca Sherman (Levinson); and his pet Chester. He is survived by: his children, Molly and Peter; his daughter-in-law Gilly; and his grandsons, Cooper and Evan.

Thoughtful, opinionated, fascinating, talented, and he flashed the biggest smile whenever we ran into each other about town. No matter what we were doing together, if Molly or Peter phoned or planned to phone, that took priority. He adored his grandsons and loved telling me about them.
