He was predeceased by: his parents, Alberta Pancake Phillips Stanley of The Plains and John Phillips; his children, John Phillips and Connie Monroe; and his brother Ed Phillips.
He is survived by: his wife Diana Welch Phillips; his son Gary Phillips (Hollie) of Athens; and his siblings, Fred Phillips (Evelyn), Shirley Mohler (Roger) and Carolyn Welch (Larry). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
