He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Shields and Clarice Shields; his siblings, Danny Shields and Debbie Cline; and his son Barry Allen Shields II.
He is survived by: his children, Jeffrey Shields (Jan Kingsley) of Akron, Brad Shields (Cathy) of Millfield and Wendy Shields (Doug Green) of Athens; and his siblings, Bernard Williams and Sharon Ulsenheimer.
