He was predeceased by: his parents, Isaac Matthews and Julia Matthews (Snable); his wife Evey; his son Jeffrey Matthews; his son-in-law Rufford Hamilton; his grandsons, Joshua Fleckenstein, Jeffrey Howard, Jeffrey Matthews and Matthew Hamilton; and his siblings, Anna Sterman, Ruby Zimmerman, Elizabeth Eggert, Lawrence Matthews, Robert Matthews, Cecil and Doris Matthews.
He is survived by: his children, Rodney Matthews (Jamie), Barbara Petro (Harry), Joann Lewis (Danny), Rex Matthews (Debbie) and Pamela Matthews-Hamilton; and his grandchildren, Michelle Matthews, Alan Matthews (Sarah), Evelyn Matthews, Derrick Matthews, Ty Matthews, Renee Siekkinen (Craig), Lisa Greenwood (Michael), Jimmy Cox (Regina), Jennifer Matthews, Christina Sisk (Jerry), Danny Lewis II (Mindy), Richard Matthews, Bryan Matthews, Jason Matthews (Dusty), Shylo Matthews (Megan), Cherie Matthews (Jerod), Kyle Hamilton (Amanda), Chad Hamilton, Jesse Hamilton, Ruford Hamilton (Christine), Tina Hamilton and Samantha Gray (Bill). He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
