He is survived by: his children, John Schmaltz of Ashtabula, Johanna Claypool (Tom) of Ashtabula, Terri Stillman (Shawn Taylor) of Ashtabula and Kim Ryel (Rick) of Ashtabula; and his siblings, James Schmaltz, Jerald Schmaltz, Sylvia Leyman (Jim), Janice Pirinen, Ruth Mantel (Jim) and Ethel Marion. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
