He was predeceased by: his parents, Grover Covert and Vera Covert (Waldo); his wife Dorothy; his daughter Deborah Adams; and his sisters, Alice Graham, Gladys Bruinsma, Geraldine Bruinsma and Doris Girouard.
He is survived by: his children, Dennis Covert (Joanne) of Ashtabula, Paul Covert (Rosalyn) of Oscoda, MI, Robert Covert, Jr. of Geneva, Nancy Newhart (Ray) of Jefferson and Linda Bishop (Fred) of Ontario, CA; and his sister Shirley Patch of Massachusetts. He is also survived by daughter; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
