He was predeceased by: his parents, John Thiel and Ethel Thiel. He is survived by: his wife Sally Thiel of Ashland; his children, Denise Appleby (Mitch) and Eric Thiel (Pamela); and his grandchildren, Zachary Appleby (Sarah), Jordon Appleby (Rhiannon), Anthony Thiel (Emily) and Chelsey DeMatteis (Cory). He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
