He was predeceased by: his parents, George VanDriest and Blanche Williams; his wife Shirley A. Gross; his grandson Richard VanDriest; and his sister Bessie Star.
He is survived by: his children, George VanDriest of Ashland, Ted VanDriest of Ashland, Rick VanDriest of Ashland, Wayne VanDriest (Tonya) of Ashland, Veronica Hicks (Jeff) of Ashland, Kitty Leiter (David) of Ashland and Evelyn Bowen (Doug) of Ashland. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 6th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Heyl Funeral Home (227 Broad St, Ashland, OH 44805). A funeral service was held on Monday, January 6th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
