He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Ray and Edna Mae Smeltzer (Stelzer). He is survived by: his wife Linda Smeltzer (Stuart); his children, Jason Smeltzer (Jennifer) of Hayesville, Scott Smeltzer and Julia Miller; his grandchildren, Katelynn and Preston Smeltzer; his sisters, Beverly Scott of Indiana and Marlene Armstrong of Hayesville; and his daughter-in-law Jennifer.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Hayesville-Vermillion Volunteer Fire Department.
