He was predeceased by: his parents, John Walter and Clara Walter (Scheaffer); and his siblings, Gilbert Walter, Richard Walter, Carl Walter and Annie Patton.

He is survived by: his wife Donna; his children, Debbie Zeigler (Ron), Mark Walter (Mary), Vickie Olney (Jay), Cathy Fulk (Gail), Mike Walter (Lisa), Jeannie Farver (Terry), Max Walter and Matthew Walter (Jenny); and his sister Carol Dassel. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren.
