He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Rex and Jeanne Arlene Doerrer; and his brother Steve Doerrer. He is survived by: his wife Colleen Doerrer of Ashland; his daughters, Nichole Marie Hosty (Kevin) of Columbus and Megan Lynne Kaufman (Jake) of Medina; his grandchildren, Morgan, Brogan, Greg and Will; and his siblings, Pam Gaskill (Richard) of New Burn, Robert Doerrer of Cocoa Beach and Joseph Doerrer of Steamboat Springs, Colorado..

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1021 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
