He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Spotts and Elsie Spotts (Boyer); his wife Joanne L. Parmer; his daughter Cathy Spiess; and his grandson David Spotts.

He is survived by: his son-in-law Richard Spiess; his children, Craig (Marilyn) of Pettisville, Curtis (Paulette) of Phoenix, AZ and Julie Ruffer (Ed) of Archbold; his grandchildren, Aimee Roth (Brad), Kyle Spiess (Erica), Andrew Spotts (Brittany), Jodi Brown (Eric), Nathan Spotts (Emily), Andrea Colander (Ken), Erika Bellamy (David), Abby Sweeny (Chris), Ashley Schink (Steve) and Cameron Ruffer (Kristen); and his great grandchildren, Evy, Avery Roth, Jackson, Tyler, Isabelle Spiess, Corbin, Alena, Ellie Spotts, Josie, Daxon, Weston Brown, Jake, Max Colander, Eian, Karis Bellamy, Zach, Brennan, Emilia, Mariah Schink, Kyden and Callie Ruffer. He is also survived by children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
