He was predeceased by: his father Eugene Cooper Simpson; his brother John Wesley Simpson; his half-brother Mark Simpson; and his grandmother Nancy J. Simpson. He is survived by: his mother Shirlene Hopkins of Arcanum; his children, James Cooper "JC" Simpson of Arcanum, David Lee Simpson of Arcanum and Claire Simpson of Arcanum; and his sister Marla Morales (Mary E. Pierce) of Hockley, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
