He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Batten and Lucy Batten Sr. (Goodpaster); his brothers, John Batten and Danny Batten; and his stepdaughter Tracy Bashore.

He is survived by: his children, Joe (Denise Bashore), Doug (Tracy Bashore), Anita Best of Ansonia, Jerry L. Batten Jr. of Versailles, Chris Batten of Versailles and Janie (Randy Hart); and his sisters-in-law, Beverly Batten of Greenville and Linda Batten of Greenville. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
