He was predeceased by: his father J. Harold Slyder; and his siblings, Madge, Maxine, Wayne, Mark and Gene.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Slyder (Harmeson); his children, James D. Slyder of Justin, Lynn Ann James (Kent) of Ansonia and Thomas J. Slyder; his grandchildren, Jennifer Elsas (Jason) of Bowie, Jesse Slyder (Emily) of Justin, Jay Slyder of Stephenville, Austin James (Amanda) of Versailles, Brandon James of Charlotte, Taylor Slyder (Connor Linde) of Portland, Mallory Slyder of South Lake and Allie Slyder of Louisville, Kentucky; his great grandchildren, Jalynn, Jed, Gloria, Mary, Margaret, Violet, John and Evelyn; and his sister Marilyn Swallow of Versailles. He is also survived by numerous other in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
