He was predeceased by: his parents, Michal Cechvala and Alžběta Cechvala (Žačková). He is survived by: his wife Judy Schmiesing; his children, Monika (Milan Hamernikova), Cheryl Cechvala (Tim Schultz), Diane (Andy Morgan) and Stan Cechvala (Christina Green); and his grandchildren, Adam, Phoebe, Ida, Luke, Levi and Deanna. He is also survived by three sisters.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
