He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Bates and Rose Bates. He is survived by: his children, Rhonda Ludlow (Steve) of Ft. Wayne, Ron Bates (Jackie) of Port Clinton and Jeff Bates of Elyria, Ohio; and his brother Ernest Felpz. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
