He was predeceased by: his wife Rae Frances Bortner; his siblings, Melvin Rufus Bortner, Raymond A. Bortner, Ruth Amelia Stang, Helen D. Marquis, Grace Matilda Urban and Irma Bortner Eicholz; and his parents, Rufus Alexander and Amelia Dorothy Bortner.
He is survived by: his sons, David Bortner of Elyria, Daniel Bortner of Amherst and Jeffrey Bortner (Christine) of Lorain; his grandchildren, Jason, Brandi, Ryan, Carly, Lenore, Evan and Diana; and his great grandchildren, Jasmine, Jaden, Julius, Liam, Ledger and Milo.
