He was predeceased by: his parents, James W. Bentley and Ethel Loretta Bentley; his brothers, Jeffery Darrell and Rosi Edwin; and his sisters-in-law, Connie, Judy and Rita.

He is survived by: his wife Jeanne Bentley; his son James Bentley (Tammy); his grandsons, Austin Bentley and Andrew Bentley; and his siblings, Fred Wayne Bentley, Daniel Van Bentley, Martha Carolyn Jenkins (Wayne) and Elizabeth Annette Freeman (James).
