Gregory Vandersommen Obituary

Greg was called home after a 2 year, very courageous, battle with cancer. He is a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, church member, co-worker, coach and friend to many. Greg was happiest when he was spending time with his very large family. He loved to cook big family dinners, which he did until his last day on this earth.

He enjoyed seeing his house full of people at all times. When he wasn't planning dinners for his family, he enjoyed talking. His love for speaking helped him in his beloved profession as a salesman. He enjoyed coaching his son's baseball and football teams. He could regularly be found helping anyone in need. Greg's love for westerns led him all over the Western United States.

He spent extensive time in Colorado and in Arizona, where he met the love of his life, eternal companion and beloved wife, Roberta. Greg was a faithful servant of the Lord with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Lorain, Ohio. He felt blessed to fulfill many duties as a member of the church. Along with extended family members, he leaves behind a devoted wife, Roberta Vandersommen; sons Randall Foster, Brandon, Benjamin (Nicholas Morales), Andrew and Holden Vandersommen; daughters Kara Vandersommen, Rachel (Trevor Stevenson), Jeanette (Nicholas Pesek), and Annie Foster; sisters Sheila (David) Pollack, Michelle (Joseph) Kowalczyk, and Nora Kelly; grandchildren, Shelby Johannsen, Cole, Adam, Katelyn, Rebecca, Kailey, Autumn, Christopher, and Mathew Vandersommen.

He will be met in heaven by his two sons, Gregory Frank Vandersommen Jr. (2005) and Curtas Foster (2013). Both of his parents, Norma and Frank Vandersommen. His sister Debra Vandersommen and brother Richard Howser. As well as, many other family members and friends. Greg will be greatly missed. Visitation will be Monday, July 20, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a Celebration of life service at 12:00 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - Day Saints; 3501 Kolbe Rd., Lorain, OH 44053.

The Bishop Rob Falke, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. In lieu of flowers please consider monetary donations to aid Greg's twelve year old son. Present checks or money orders to any Chase Bank branch via the Holden Vandersommen Donations account.
