He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Kearns and Sarah Kearns (Jonson); his sisters, Iva Mae Lefeber, Alice Horner and Thelma Wells; and his grandson Gary Davis.
He is survived by: his wife Sherry Kearns of Alliance; his children, Melina Gilbert (Bruce), John Kearns, Jr. of Rogers, Erica Kaurich (Watson) of Beloit and Melissa Anderson (John) of Lisbon; his siblings, Carl Kearns of Elyria, William Kearns of Yuva, Shirley Brewer of Lisbon, Rose Halligan of Lisbon, Jaunita Faulk of Struthers and Sue Watson of Rogers; and also Heather Durr (Roy) of Wampum. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
