She was predeceased by: her parents, Mildred Jane Bumgarner James and William Thompson James Sr.; her husband Emerson Lyle "Jake" Smith; and her siblings, Dorothy James Williams, William James Jr., Donald James, Virginia James Mortz, David James and Blaine James.
She is survived by: her sons, Donald Brian Smith (Rita) of Nelsonville, Bruce Emerson Smith (Christy) of Albany and David Allen Smith (April) of Albany; her grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Jarrett Smith and Jacob Smith; her great grandchildren, Wyatt, Lyle, O'Rion, Charlotte and Dalton; and her sisters-in-law, Mary James and Genevia James. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
