He was predeceased by: his father William Thomas; his son James Michael West; and his siblings, William West, Doris Wolfe (Curtis) and Nancy Steiner (Lloyd).
He is survived by: his wife Kathleen West; his children, Noreen Gordon (Kevin), Steve West (Alison) and Jamie Falasz; his grandsons, Ray Gordon, Aiden Falasz and William Ross West; and his daughter-in-law Darlene West. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
