He was predeceased by: his daughter Cindy Oberlander (Patrick); his parents, Milda Violet Wagner and Thomas Plummer Hilliard; his siblings, Elizabeth (Bonner), Earl, Katherine (Delp), Mildred (Smith), William, Dora (Atherton) and Margaret (Toy); his son James Jr. (Terri); and his former wife Lucinda (Riley).
He is survived by: his wife Janet LaRue (Hankey); his grandchildren, Nathan Oberlander, Derek Oberlander (Julia), Alison Bernel (Joseph), Jeromy Hilliard (Deanna), Alyce Frame (David) and David Hilliard (Zena Roy); his great grandchildren, Kemper, Piper Bernel, Jesse, Aubrey Oberlander, Kennedy Anderson, Killian, Priscilla and Evander Hilliard; and his brothers, Richard Hilliard (Mary) and Robert Hilliard (Cathy).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Jim's memory be made to the Alzheimer's Association (https://alzfdn.org) to help speed development of a cure for this horrible disease.
