He was predeceased by: his parents, Janet Erickson Benson and William R. Benson. He is survived by: his wife Carol Jean Maringer; his children, Darryl (Barbette Benson), Dane (Laurie Benson), Dawn (Wayne Ulbrich), Danielle (Robert Harrell), Daccine Benson (Drew) of Youngstown and Carol Benson of Macedonia; and his sister Shirley (Clair Fletcher). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 nephews, 1 great nephew, and 1 great niece.
The family requests in lieu of material tributes to take the form of contributions to the Cleveland Museum of Art or Akron Museum of Art.
