With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Emma J. Hamilton-Shropshire (Akron, Ohio), born in Russellville, Alabama, who passed away on April 6, 2023 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Thom Smith and Alice Smith; her daughter Nettie Hamilton; her siblings, James Nelson (Helen), Thomas Smith (Hattie), Jake Smith (Gracie Mae), Odell Smith, Welford Smith, Emmit Smith (Barbara), Willie D. Beecher (J. T.), Mattie McGowan (Walter), Margie Smith (Herman), Betty Watson (Raymond) and Joanne Mills (Joe); her daughter-in-law Rosalind Hamilton; her granddaughter Da'Shaun Clepper; and her great grandchild Maria Nash.
She is survived by: her husband Willie Shropshire; her son Harold D. Hamilton; her sister Myrtle Person; her sister-in-law Minnie Joe Fikes; and her grandchildren, Kevin of Akron, Ohio, David Hamilton of Akron, Ohio and Whitney Humphrey (Joesph) of Akron, Ohio. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
