He was predeceased by: his parents, James F Mitchell and Ethel M. Mitchell (Boyert). He is survived by: his wife Cynthia L. "Cindy" Mitchell (Taylor); his children, Samantha J. Dias (Eric) and Neal E. Mitchell; his granddaughter Aubrey J.; his stepgrandchildren, Tyler and Brooklynn Dias; his siblings, Terry (Rhonda), Laura (Mark), Joyce (Gary), Nancy (Greg), Ted, Bonnie (Ed), Nadine (Dennis) and Michele; his siblings-in-law, Juanita (Bhagu), Advani, Robert Taylor (Janice) and William Taylor (Beverly); and his pet Toots. He is also survived by 20 nieces and nephews, 29 great nieces and nephews and one great-great niece.
