He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Knittle and Luella Sandlin; and his brothers, Roy and Larry. He is survived by: his wife Donna; his children, Barbie Whitt (Jay) and Dave Knittle (Julie); his stepchildren, Cheri Jenkins and Dan Sees; his grandchildren, Randy Edwards, Jake Knittle and Victoria Conlin; and his sister Rebecca Mohler (Bob Hostnik). He is also survived by his family and friends.
