He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold V. Matthews and Beatrice Eileen Coss Matthews; his wife Brenda Sue Matthews (Smith); and his siblings, Ruthann Harris, Suzie Lantz, Harold Matthews Jr. and Donald Matthews.
He is survived by: his son Leslie G. Matthews Jr. (Tresa) of Adena; his siblings, Sharon Freeze (Fred) of Mt. Pleasant, Illarae Covington (Ray) of St. Clairsville, Loise Cook of Indiana, Jim Matthews of Michigan and Richard Matthews of New Athens; and his grandchildren, Ashley Matthews, Jacob Matthews and Zachery Matthews (Katie McLaughlin). He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
