He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Battels and Irene Battels (Ewing); and his siblings, Loren Battles and Judith Luginbuhl. He is survived by: his children, Douglas Battels of Lima, Teresa Horton (Mark) of Ft. Valley, GA, Lisa Wilgus (Jerry) of Wapak and Darla Meyer (Mark) of Harrod; his stepchildren, Robin Schaffner, Ron Schaffner, Pam Masters (Bill), Patti Gillis (Don) and Richard Schaffner (Jodi); and his sisters, Pamela Lowry of Lima and Shirley Briem (Charles) of Iowa. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
